The Huntington's Disease Peer Support Groups (HD PSG) provide a welcoming environment for people affected by or interested in HD to come together, share their experiences, provide comfort and support each other. Peer Support Groups help reduce social isolation, offer a sense of belonging and provide emotional support and access to relevant information.
HV encourages all individuals impacted by HD to consider setting up or joining an established support group. To help you get started, we developed the HD Peer Support Group Guidelines.
The groups are independent and self-sufficient, run and managed by you. Remember, the number of participants is not important – groups can be as small or large as you want.
Semi-regular support groups run in the following areas:
- Western Melbourne
- Kyabram (Please contact Helen Walsh on 0438 522 072 or Helen Barker on 0439 391 205 for address information)
If you would like to join an existing group in your area or set up a new one, please contact the HV Quality and Community Engagement Coordinator on (03) 9818 6333.
