Huntington's Client Profile: Keith
Keith first linked in with our services by accessing our Information Program to find out more details on HD and what it meant for him. Now, a number of years later, he accesses our Case Management Program and works closely with his Case Worker Tali to ensure that his needs are met.
How did you first become aware of Huntington's disease?
My Mum told me about it, she got tested and after she found out she was gene positive she thought I should get tested.
How did you become involved with Huntington's Victoria?
I saw a specialist back in 2013 and I knew that I needed more support, the specialist suggested that I link in with Huntington's Victoria. In 2007 the specialist also got me involved with the NUCOG assessment trials at RMH, this assessment helped with developing the current testing used for HD.
What are some things that Huntington's Victoria has helped you with?
Tali has really helped me with my grumpiness and anger. I now do lots more activities like woodwork which means I keep myself busy and don't get frustrated.
What's one thing you can't live without?
Woodwork & Junior, my side-kick (Keith's gorgeous dog, seen shaking Keith's hand in the photo above)
Finally, is there any message you would like to share with others impacted by Huntington's disease?
I would tell them to stay strong.
