Hi I'm Jacqui
Being able to raise awareness as a Huntington's champion is very special to me, it makes me feel like I am making a small difference in this world.
What is your involvement with HV?
My involvement with HV started when I was asked to be on the gala ball committee, I gratefully accepted and started working with the team at HV closely. Since then, I have spoken at the HD community day, the gala ball and have been involved in the awareness video. I have also organised awareness and fundraising days, participating in the city to sea marathon with my family (who don’t run!!) and planning a Huntingtons winery tour!
Why is raising awareness of HD important to you?
Huntingtons Disease is so unknown and the impact it has on not only my family, but so many others is devastating. It’s important for me to help raise awareness to try and get some recognition and support for those families going through it.
What’s your experience with HD?
My grandfather was diagnosed with HD 7 years ago and my mum was diagnosed soon after. I was lucky enough to not have inherited the disease.
