Our People

Our Board, committee members and staff continue to be at the heart of our activities. Often working under significant pressure and workload, they continue to focus on delivering quality services and remaining committed to addressing the needs of people affected by HD.

Many of these people contribute their time and skills free of charge. We remain grateful for the skills, knowledge and compassion that they bring to our service.

The HV Board

The Board is made up of volunteers elected by the members at the Annual General Meeting. The Board meets monthly and is responsible for governing the organisation. Our Senior Management Team is responsible for the daily operations of the organisation and reports directly to the Board on matters including:

  • development of the mission and vision
  • setting the strategic direction and policy development
  • ensuring the financial viability of the organisation and
  • being accountable to members, funders, donors, and the public

Board members serve a one year term, and are eligible for re-election each year at the Annual General Meeting. All financial members of Huntington's Victoria are eligible to nominate for the Board.

Community Advisory Committee (CAC)

In 2008 HV established the Community Advisory Committee (CAC). Members come from a variety of backgrounds, with their common link being a connection with Huntington’s Disease. Meetings are held every two months at the Huntington’s Victoria offices. Minutes of meetings are provided to the Board. The aim of the CAC is to:

  • provide direction and leadership to increase community and consumer involvement at Huntington’s Victoria
  • advocate to the CEO and Board on behalf of the community
  • participate at all levels of service planning and delivery
