Carers Week aims to raise awareness of the valuable role that family carers play in our community, and to provide activities for carers to acknowledge how tough being a carer can be.

To celebrate Carers Week, Huntington’s Victoria organised an outing to a production of the stage show ‘Wicked’. We offered respite to make it easier for carers to attend, and Hannah our rural worker encouraged country carers to participate.

Twenty one carers attended the outing, including 8 people from our rural community.  The outing provided an opportunity for people to meet other carers, relax for a couple of hours, and see a world class musical production.

“I loved all the singing and dancing, particularly seeing the Australian Idol stars.  It was really good to get away from everyday worries and escape for a few hours.  I enjoyed the company of the other carers, some of who I hadn’t seen for a long time. It was a really lovely day out.”
