History of HD in Australia

It is believed that the disease was brought to Australia in 1842 by the migration of a woman from Somerset in England (possibly of Huguenot descent). The woman sailed from England to Launceston in Tasmania with her husband and seven children, aboard the barque 'Arab'. They had seven more children, and of their fourteen offspring, nine developed Huntington's disease.
